Dr Azhar Janmohamed, private GP consulting in Knightsbridge and Mayfair

    How he practises

Dr Azhar sees his patients himself rather than passing them between colleagues. Good general practice depends on knowing someone over time: their history, their circumstances and what matters to them, not only the symptom in front of him on the day.

Consultations are unhurried. He takes a full history, examines carefully where that is relevant, and explains his thinking plainly, so you understand what is happening and what the sensible next step is.

    Education and qualifications

Dr Azhar studied medicine at Imperial College London, where he was awarded a Distinction in Medical Specialties, and holds MBBS and BSc degrees. He went on to train as a general practitioner in the United Kingdom and holds MRCGP, the membership examination of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

He has more than a decade of clinical experience across acute medicine, paediatrics, emergency medicine, care of older people, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, dermatology and general surgery. That breadth shapes the way he assesses a problem in general practice and decides when a specialist opinion genuinely adds something.

    • MBBS, BSc, Imperial College London, awarded a Distinction in Medical Specialties.
    • MRCGP, Royal College of General Practitioners.
    • Registered with the General Medical Council.
    • Over ten years of clinical experience across multiple specialties.

    What a consultation is like

Whether the concern is a new symptom, an illness that has not settled, or a routine review, the approach is the same: enough time to explain what is going on, a clear plan, and a doctor who remembers the conversation next time.

Where tests or investigations are useful, these are arranged as part of the consultation. Where a prescription is clinically appropriate following assessment, it is issued for you to collect from a pharmacy of your choice.

    Continuity and coordinating your care

You deal with Dr Azhar directly and see the same doctor each time, and he responds himself when a concern is urgent. Where he is away, he tells you and helps you arrange suitable alternative care.

When specialist opinion or hospital investigation is needed, he arranges the referral, and helps bring the results and letters that follow back into one coherent picture, rather than leaving you to piece them together yourself.

    Where he consults

Dr Azhar consults from private rooms in Knightsbridge and Mayfair, and visits homes and hotels across central London by arrangement. Telephone and video appointments are also available for advice, follow-up and results; where an examination or a prescription is needed, you are seen in person.
